Keeping the AC Running During a Heatwave
Last summer, a transformer blew near Sun Vista Gardens during peak afternoon heat. You could feel the humidity thickening in the hallways immediately. With 200+ condo units full of retirees, we had minutes before indoor temps became dangerous.
Our crew had a 250kW generator hooked to their main panel within 90 minutes. We bypassed their outdated transfer switch with a temporary parallel feed. Residents never lost AC - just some hallway lights flickered during the switchover.
I didn't even realize we'd lost grid power until the manager called.
